28 Nov 2021 Chickadee Wars, White Throated Sparrows and Garbage Stuff

Image
Today I noticed some angry chickadees arguing over who should be at the feeder. The other bird news was that the White-throated Sparrow seems to have returned to the Falaise after being away for the summer. When I reported on ebird that I saw 12 of these birds , (there was a flock of them, hard to say how many), ebird then prompted me, saying that it is unusual to see so many of these in this location and time.   Wow....it seems I am right about White-throated Sparrows migrating!   On the garbage front I see that people have been adding to the garbage collection on the Central Access Road, well done!  28 Nov 2021 21 Nov 2021    I noticed a new chair with a blue gasoline canister as well as a black pipe and golf club over the wine press.

23 November He Man - She Woman Falaise Western Trail Work Day

Image
A small subgroup of early risers met at the Shaika Cafe to get together and discuss strategy.   Fully caffeinated, we felt ready to head out to meet up with whoever appeared at the Valley of Birds .  The usual list of suspects was there: W.G Ross, Chris with his friend from Regina, new rookie Wes, plus many hungry birds looking for breakfast.  Louis Rubenstein joined Tibby later along the Bande Verte. Tibby & Louis rode off to trail blaze along the far west, while A.T., W,G and Wes plodded along with the wheelbarrow looking for some big game garbage. Along the way we noticed a few tempting items, but nothing big enough to warrant a change of direction. Passing a cache of goodies, we took a side tour of the "Ski Chute" and admired the fine bridge that connects it to the Bande Verte.   Curiosity about the Ski Chute satisfied, we continued on our quest, the big game available at the Super C parking lot. At last a chance, for He Man work!!! The Falaise side of the fence now

21 Nov 2021 Super C work and Barclay finds more tires

Image
After filling the bird feeders I headed west towards Super C with the wheelbarrow.  Passing the Central Access road tire pile,   I noticed there were about 10 additional tires than from the day before. 19 Nov 2021 , large truck tire added (just to the right of wheelbarrow) 21 Nov 2021 4 new tires added over truck tire 20 Nov 2021 Overview of tire pile from spreadsheet   21 Nov 2021 My estimate of 10 more tires from previous day   Later that day I received an email from Barclay who told me he had taken another dozen tires to the Central Access road.  I adjusted the spreadsheet to reflect those numbers giving a total collected for the Fall of 2021as 261.  In the Spring we collected 135 so the total so far for 2021 is 396 !!  He also reported that he  noticed some new garbage above the eastern hiking trail, not far from the wheelbarrow.  Sauvons la Falaise has to develop a procedure with the city and the businesses at the top of the Falaise as to what should happen whenever new garbage
