26 Sept 2021 Tire count at central access road now at 6

We are making some progress in draining the swamp.  I started a spreadsheet to keep track of how many tires have been taken to the access roads.

While taking two of the tires from the swamp to the central access road I was stopped by two bicycle police in the Falaise who asked what I was doing.  They seemed happy to hear about the planned clean up.

Imagine Monkland

Image
Sauvons la Falaise was present all four days of the Imagine Monkland street festival.  Friday evening was especially interesting as head-lamps were suspended to from the kiosk roof to illuminate the large scale plans, the 1:250 model of the Dalle Parc eco bridge, and different explanatory documents. As night fell the lit kiosk was an attraction to street festival walkers.  There were many lively discussions, especially about the long wait by local citizens for the Dalle Parc which had been promised them in compensation to the years of lost urban life during the Turcot interchange rebuilding for the suburbs. Saturday was the highlight of the event because of the fantastic weather and great turn-out.  Sauvons la Falaise was joined by its Invasives/ Native Wildflowers committees that day.  They too had many interesting conversations with citizens about the challenges indigenous flora have. The participation of Sauvons la Falaise along with all the presentation ma...

Alma Auto Tyre Collection

Image
It was  a beautiful April Spring day in the Woods, and five Falaisians set out to remove new garbage that was dumped over the Winter below Alma Auto.   Heading east from the Valley of the Birds, we replaced a bird feeder that that had fallen near the Growth Art Installation. Soon we were at the new garbage area that had been thoroughly cleaned last fall.     First, we sought the recently discovered special  gem of the Falaise, a massive truck tyre that had been dumped over the winter. ( See the discovery photos 31 March 2022 ) Unfortunately, the tyre ran away from us downhill.  Oh well, we can pick it up along the Bande Verte later.  After that we collected some misc garbage, and about a dozen car tyres along the Eastern Trail as well as lower down near the Bande Verte.
