30 Dec 2021 Skiing in the Falaise

Image
A group of us set out skiing along the eastern trail of the Falaise today, returning via the Bande Verte. Passing by the Eastern Access Road, I noticed that people have collected quite a bit of garbage from the Falaise since the last time I had stopped by .       A much better Blog Post about skiing on the Falaise today was also posted here:   https://skiglisse.blogspot.com/2021/12/en-ski-la-falaise-saint-jacques.html

19 Dec 2021 H.S. Tibbs 's first day out skiing

Greetings,   We skied the Falaise East trail from the Birds’ Valley to the eastern access road.   There were three of us: Tomas, Betty, and myself.   We met Dara skiing on the Bande Verte near the eastern end and convinced her to ski back along the Falaise trail.     We skied the Bande Verte to the central access road where I skied down and then picked up the Falaise West trail.   I skied past the dinosaur as far as Ozymandias.   I turned back and met Dara skiing west.   She was going to continue.   She will be the first to do the complete Falaise trail on skiis this winter.   I came down Barclay’s chute to the stream.  It was a wet crossing.  Then up the Bande Verte and back to the central access.   The conditions were surprisingly good.   The Birds’ Valley could use another snowfall.     Falaise East path   Falaise West path Bande Verte ...

The work continued on clearing the Eastern Path of downed trees. \ Some notable garbage was picked up as well, the mystery box was found to be an old filing cabinet and  was added to the Eastern Access road pile.

5 Dec 2021 Wheelbarrow Driving in the Falaise

Image
I took the wheelbarrow out for a spin today, first going on the Eastern trail to pick up a few new tires and misc garbage that had collected beside the trail.   With these two new tires the total number of tires collected in the Fall of 2021 is 268. Looking up the hill just east of the Valley of the Birds, it is clear that lots more garbage will be headed down the hill soon. Feeling pretty good I then took the wheelbarrow west  to the Ski Chute.  There I knew of a gas oven that could be rolled down to the trail for pick up. Once down to the trail, it replaced the car trunk lid as the Ski Chute trail marker.

30 Nov 2021 He Man Saw Cutting under the Super C

Image
After a lonely 9 am coffee at the Shaika I set out to the Falaise for a regular He Man / She Woman work day.  Not seeing anyone at the usual meeting place, The Valley of the Birds, I set out with the 5 foot saw wondering what work to do that day. First I thought I would check out Barclay's Ski Chute work..... It looks pretty good!  I even found the wire metal cage he mentioned.   I noticed there is also some sort of gas oven nearby and rolled it over to see how heavy it was. Moving on I continued to just west of the downed tree which crosses the trail along the Super C hillside.  As expected there was a treasure trove of garbage to select from. I worked away, happy as a pig in ****, when my saw cutting mates showed up, eager to saw.  They told me that they had seen W.G. working along on the trail earlier as well. After some He Man Sawing and log shoving.....Success!!!   We all then head back with a wheel barrow full of treasures.
